Guest list

Only people on this list can RSVP. Guests are added the moment you press Add guest — no need to press “Save changes”. Press Save to Sheet to store the list centrally so invites & RSVPs work from any device.

One guest per line, as Name, email (email optional). Example:

To email invites, first connect your backend under Settings → RSVP & email (endpoint URL + sync key). Until then you can still build the list and copy links by hand.

Moments
Add an icon name to any moment below (from icons.getbootstrap.com) to show a small icon next to it. Icons are optional in both layouts, but the horizontal layout looks best with one on every moment.

What to wear

By default, the swatches hide automatically once you upload a graphic in Photos → What to Wear (since the image already shows the palette). Turn this on to show the swatches underneath your graphic too.
Colour palette

These circles appear under “What to Wear” on the site (when no custom graphic is set, or always if you turn on the override above). Give each a name and pick its colour — or press Photo to use a small image instead of a flat colour (like a fabric or floral swatch photo).

Upload your custom graphic in Admin → Photos → What to Wear graphic. When a graphic is set, it shows full-width and the swatches hide by default — tick “Always show swatches” above if you want both together.

Photos

Upload or replace the images on your site here. These are saved with your content and appear on the live site once you press Save changes and re-Publish. Landscape photos work best for the cover and venue; portrait for the story photos. Large files are automatically resized.

Our Story photos

At least 2, up to 10. With 2 they show side by side; add a 3rd and they become a sliding carousel on the site. Portrait photos look best.

After uploading, press Save changes (top right), then Settings → Publish & download and re-upload your site so guests see the new photos.

Accommodation

These options appear to a guest when they tick “I’ll need somewhere to stay” on their RSVP. Fill in what you’ve arranged, nearby alternatives, and budget-friendly picks. Each item has a name, short description, a price note, and an optional link. Guests book and pay for their own accommodation directly — these are recommendations, not reservations made on their behalf.

Publish your site

Once your backend is connected (see RSVP & email below), every Save changes also sends your wording straight to your Google Sheet — so edits go live on the site right away, from any device, with nothing to re-upload. Photos are the exception: they only reach guests through Publish.

Publish is your safety net: it downloads a small published-data.js snapshot. Drop it in alongside your site files and re-upload, and guests still see your latest details even if they open the site offline. (Only guest names & codes are published — never their email addresses or your sync key.)

Re-publish after changing photos, or before a big offline event, as a fallback.
RSVP & email
When on, visitors without a personal link see “this RSVP is by invitation.” Turn off to let anyone reply with their name (useful while previewing).
Set up the free Google Sheet backend (see SETUP-GUIDE.md + backend/Wedding-RSVP-Email-Script.gs). Paste its web-app URL into RSVP endpoint URL and the SECRET you chose into Sync key. Every reply then saves to your Sheet, emails you, sends the guest a copy, and shows live under RSVPs › Sync from Sheet. Leave blank to just collect replies in this browser.
Playlist
Get a free key at console.cloud.google.com/apis/credentials — enable the YouTube Data API v3, create an API key, then under that key's settings restrict it to HTTP referrers and add your site's domain (e.g. your-site.netlify.app/*). This key ends up in your public site files, so the referrer restriction is what keeps it from being used elsewhere. Leave blank and guests just get the plain text field, as before.

Passcode

Once your backend is connected above, this panel is unlocked with your Sync key (the SECRET from your Apps Script), checked live against Google — so no one can get in from the site’s source code, and only people who know the key can open the admin from any device. To change it, change SECRET in your script (redeploy as a new version) and update Sync key above to match.

The local passcode below is only a fallback for before a backend is set up:
